The Institute invites applications from eligible candidates for the award of fellowships and scholarships for the year 2007-08.

Fellowships: two numbers -

           Professors/Readers/Senior Lecturers from Indian Universities to work in the Institute either for the whole academic period or for specific term as the case may be. Fellowship is for a period of two years at the first instance. Fellowship amount will be equivalent to the salary as he/she was drawing before being awarded the fellowship. The Selected Fellows are expected to work in Mysore. The other allowances, would be paid as per existing rules with reference to place of duty i.e. Mysore. If, he/she is in the service of Government or any organization other than a university, his/her status shall be equated with that of a Lecturer, Reader or Professor under a university and the salary payable to him shall be fixed accordingly for the purpose of the fellowship amount. It is equal to the emoluments drawn as salary by the awardees excluding CPF contribution in their respective departments. The selected Fellow (he/she) will also be eligible to contingency grant of Rs.5000=00 only per annum.

Scholarships leading to Ph.D degree : five numbers

               Post-graduates who have completed their Masters’ Degree in Linguistics/Indian Languages or allied disciplines and are interested in pursuing inter - disciplinary research leading to Ph.D. Degree at the Institute in Mysore or in any other University are encouraged  to apply for these five scholarhips.

Qualification: First or high second class Masters Degree in Linguistics/Languages or allied disciplines.

Tenure of the scholarship: Maximum period of two years.

Age: Not more than 30 years as on August 31, 2007.

Scholarship amount: Rs.4,000=00 p.m.for the scholars who have registered without passing NET and Rs.5,000=00 p.m. for the scholars who passed the NET.

Contingency grant: Rs.5,000=00 per annum

The original documents/testimonials/certificates will have to be produced at the time of interview.  It may also be noted that the candidates will not be paid TA/DA, etc. by the Institute for appearing in the test/viva-voce.  They will have to appear for test/viva-voce at their own cost.  However, the Institute will consider providing hostel accommodation to the outstation candidates at concessional rates if a written request is sent to the undersigned or  Asst.Director (Admn.) in advance.
