Vote of Thanks – Sam Mohanlal

Friends, it is the concern of the institute and the work it is doing, today, the additional secretary had come ever here and gave the valedictory address. While he was talking he humbly mentioned that ‘I'm not a linguist and neither a specialist in language'. But still I try to tell something what I know about that linguistic very beautifully, I think, he has expressed lexical semantics and lexical semantic extension in his speech by comparing many of the language lexical items and its extension in the content of present scientific scenario. I think, that shows his observation, concern and the way he looks at things. I thank you, sir for the concern and also sincerity you have shown towards this institute, towards the work of the institute. I thank you, sir on behalf of the director and the staff of this institute. Thank you very much. Always it is the hospitability towards the guests and other staff that will take a person together. If you are warm towards the other person and you can always get what you want. This is Prof. Udaya Narayana Singh from the beginning he has encompassing capacity to take care of everybody in every situation, every aspect he takes care of others and it is, this capacity of Prof. Sing the director of Central Institute of Indian Languages, could bring such an event in this institution in such a meticulous way with very limited staff members. The Additional Secretary mentioned that the staff, we have very, very less staff members, I think he is wonderfully taking the work done from the limited staff members, that is only because of his sincere encompassing capacity towards the fellow staff men. Thank you, sir for all the encouragement and all the help you are extending towards us, thank you very much.

Now we have with us many participants from several countries including India and all the participants are very senior scholars and they are working in their fields, they are very busy people and in spite of that, they had come to this international event and stayed throughout the 4 days and presented their academic research meticulously and sitting in all the sessions and participating in that and I would like to mention the senior scholars like Prof. D.P. Pattanayak, Prof. Kelkar, Prof. Sarkar, Prof. Bh. Krishnamurthy they are all very senior members and very aged persons but still they could come because of the work which we have done, because of the interest towards the institute, towards the functioning of this institute. Thank you, sir. All of them are here and that shows their interest and I personally thank you sirs, on behalf of the director and the Central Institute of Indian Languages.

You know all international events, even all ordinary conferences, it needs lot of funds and without funds we cannot do things. And government of India has lot of restrictions in giving funds and with these very limited funds we could do the programme very well so that organization helped us to mention few (exabite) could give us the two dinners, and Hotel President could give us lunch. I would like to mention at this stage that in all the conferences and seminars if the accommodation and food is properly arranged generally there will not be any comment, any heart-burns. I think this was possible because of the different hotels and different organization which could release the fund and make their stay comfortable. We also thank the administrative staff of this institute. I think Prof. Subbarao clearly mentioned “whenever I approach people, they could help.” Yes, I have observed him talking to different persons of this institute. Everybody was helping him. This is the administrative staff. Academic staff, Prof. Subbarao is known to most of us, we will help, we are obliged to help. And most of our people here are students of Prof. Subbarao. Administrative staff Yes, they have helped him in many ways. And very truly he brought it out. I think I take this moment to thank my good friend and colleague Dr. Mallikarjun. The way he took the things very clearly, very meticulously, we both are staying next to each other in this institute and I have seen his functioning from starting and interacted with the director, the same time interacting with the others and but for his idiosyncrasies, he has done a wonderful job, and he could without his such type of meticulous functioning, definitely this particular event would not have been successful. Thank you, Mallikarjun, my personal thanks to you and all the members who have come here and stayed here. Press people, I think, my friends from Indian express and other media are there. Without the help of media whatever work which we put will not come out, will not be known to others. I thank the media personnel here, thank you very much. Thank you one and all. Thank you very much.
