The National Translation Mission (NTM) Scheme now under the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore requires a Project Director for a period of three years, extendable up to a maximum of five years as per the Ministry HRD order no. F.No.8-12/2006-L.II (Pt.), dated February 24, 2009.

The Project Director for NTM would be the head of the NTM but report to Director, CIIL for implementation of the project because all administrative and financial powers shall vest with the Director, CIIL

The applicant should be of maximum of 60 years of age, with at least 15 years experience in teaching and least 5 years administrative experience holding a Doctoral Degree in Translation and other related fields.

The incumbent will be offered a consolidated salary of Rs. 40,000/- p.m.

Project Director, NTM will supervise, monitor and implement the decisions of the PAC of NTM. She/he is also expected to give a monthly report on the progress made in the Scheme to the Director, CIIL by the 3rd of the month following the month for which the report is being given.

The appointing authority of the Project Director, NTM is the NTM-PAC or the Project Advisory Committee, which will also have the power of removal.

The Search-cum-Selection Committee for filling of the personnel is to be made and headed by Director, CIIL (in consultation with Project Director, NTM). All the engagements and appointments in the NTM Project would made by Director, CIIL in consultation with Project Director, NTM.

The headquarters for NTM would remain in Mysore but there would be a Liaison Office in New Delhi located in the office of the Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology (CSTT) at R.K.Puram, New Delhi .

The Project Director, CIIL would assist Director, CIIL in selecting and providing the necessary personnel out of the NTM project to the CSTT, New Delhi both for the NTM’s Liaison Office in New Delhi as also to enable the CSTT do its work related to coining of technical terms, etc. under NTM.

The Project Director, NTM will also convene all meetings of the four Sub-Committees of the NTM-PAC, namely, the Sub-Committee for Copyright and legal matters, the Sub-Committee on deciding rates for translation, copy-editors, etc., the Sub-Committee for deciding on the knowledge books to be translated, and the Sub-Committee on NTM Grants-in-Aid.

It will also be the responsibility of the Project Director, NTM to remain in touch with the Chief of the ICT Project in the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of HRD.
