Contact cum Correspondence Course in Kannada (CCCK Unit)
 
1. Duration of the Course:
One Year
 
2. Objectives:
  1. To listen and comprehend the conversation and discussion in normal speed, Radio news, Bulletins and public speeches.
  2. To speak with ease about routine Administrative matters, conduct or participate in official discussions and meet personal needs.
  3. To read printed, typed and handwritten materials in Kannada relating to routine administrative matters, matters of public interest and newspapers with an appropriate speed and comprehension.
  4. To write brief notes on Administrative matters and draft short official communications.
  5. To translate official correspondence from English to Kannada and Kannada to English
  3. Text Book:
  The Kannada Course Book for the Non –Kannada speaking employees of the Government of Karnataka titled "Kannadetara Sarakari Noukararige Kannada palavali" consists of one hundred lessons, the breakup is as follows:
  1. Lessons for listening comprehension
  2. Lessons for script and spelling
  3. Lessons for conversation practice
  4. Lessons for reading comprehension
  5. Lessons for writing official correspondence
  6. Lessons for Translation practice
  7. Model test and tips for further learning.
  4. Nature of the Course:
  Course consists of 3 comonents Viz.
a. Basic
b. Intermediate
c. Advanced

a. Basic
Basic structures of spoken Kannada are taught through structurally graded conversational lessons, Kannada scripts, dictations etc are taught.

b. Intermediate
Textual Lessons representing writers Kannada are taught for reading comprehension and understanding of Kannada language culture.

c. Advanced
Administrative Kannada such as Noting and Drafting and writing other types of Administrative Kannada.
   
  5. Contact programmes:
 
  1. Basic level 2 days
  2. Intermediate level 3 days
  3. Advance level 4 days. Followed by the Examination as Viva.
  6. Pattern of Examination:

Kannada-Read and write

100 Marks

2 hours.

Question Paper -2

Kannada language structure Objective type

100 Marks

1 hour.

Question Paper -3

Administrative Kannada

100 Marks

2 hours.

Question Paper -4

Translation: English to Kannada

  50 Marks

1 hour.

 

Viva Examination

  50 Marks

 

 

Total

400 Marks

 

  For 100 Marks paper minimum marks to pass is 35
For 50 Marks paper minimum marks to pass is 20
To be successful one should get 40% in aggregate.
   
  7. Ranking and Certificate:
  Depending upon the marks obtained in the Examination ranking is given
Viz

  • Distinction: 80% and above
  • First class: 60% up to 79%
  • Second class: 50% up to 59%
  • Pass: 40% up to 49%
  •   DIPLOMA Certificate is given to the successful registrants
     
    8. Eligibility for the course
      It is an Inservice training programme for Government servents of Karnataka, Central Government servants working in Karnataka, Autonomous organization like Universities etc.
      9. Recognition of the course:
      Karnataka Public Service Commissions has recognized this scheme as Departmental language Examination for the Appointment and promotion etc.

      This is a Grant in Aid Scheme. Grant comes from the Directorate of Karnataka culture, Government of Karnataka in collaboration with CIIL.

      15. This Course started in
      a) 1985 Total number of Registrants from 1985-2001 - 11,224

    b) Total number of Registrants appeared for the Examination: 4,187 (including repeaters of old Batch)

    c) Total number of Registrants passed In the Examination: 2,051 (including repeaters of old Batch)
