  • Fundamental Researches on : Evaluation, Testing, Education, etc. with. reference to Language & Literature.
  • Developing Basic Reference Materials : Terminology, Bibliography, Approaches to different kinds of Evaluation.


2. II - Evolving Data Base: MILES - an all inclusive centralised system. To meet different requirements in Indian Languages

  • On Test Contents, Test Methods, Test Purposes.
  • Includes a variety of Item types in language & literature with quality indices for different purposes, & levels in different contexts.


3. III - Undertaking job Evaluation

  • Developing tools for specific requirements for

       a. Recruitment agencies, SSCs, State PSCs, IBPS, UPSC & other similar agencies.
       b. Govt. Depts. / Educational organisations of the Country & abroad.

  • Evaluation of Language related programmes & schemes both for in house & outside agencies.
  • Evaluation of Language Primers, Text books meant for different stages of Education both in L1 & L2 contexts.
  • Restructuring of syllabi & abstraction of objectives for both UG & PG courses in various Indian languages.

4. IV - Guidance & Counseling

  • Individual Researchers, Research units / groups.
  • Institutions, Universities.

  • Through Seminars, Workshops, Meetings, etc. & also by assigning jobs so as to enable them learn by practice (on the job training).
  • Through Delivering Lectures / Circulating Handouts in Orientation Courses, Refresher Courses, etc., organised both by the CIIL & UGC.

  Major Works undertaken

6. Developed two sets of Tests in 9 languages for the IBPS -

  • One for the recruitment of Probationary Officers, &
  • other for Cashiers in Nationalised banks


7. Extended Consultancy to UPSC -

  • for improving the quality of Language questions meant for civil services Examinations


8. Evaluated Language Primers / Text books -

  • of Mauritious Govt., U.T. of A & N, State Govts. of Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra, Punjab, Oriya, West Bengal.


9. Restructured the Syllabi of UG & PG Courses in 9 Indian Languages

10. Developed Proficiency Tests in 14 Indian Languages

11. Undertook inhouse evaluation of RLCs of CIIL and their Refresher Courses, National Integration Camp, and Contact-cum-Correspond Course.

12. Currently developing a series of prototype multipurpose tests towards creating an all inclusive centralised system called MILES to cater to the evaluation requirements of the country and abroad w.r.t Indian Languages, for any purpose, for any educational level, and also for any length of time. It is preceeded by the publication of a variety of reference materials.
