The traditional library of the Central Institute of Indian Languages was completely computerized. This is the second fully automated library in India. Its seven regional language center libraries situated at different parts of India have been automated and network libraries for multiple languages of India have been created. Current Projects:

Created different sections in the library, depending upon the type of materials such as ‘Map Section’, ‘Multimedia section’, etc.Digitized the Multimedia materials and books and articles authored by CIIL faculty.The digitized documents are converted to e-books and are placed in our website. Developed Classical Tamil Digital Library section involving 13 projects including Information retrieval thesaurus in Tamil. Developed online classification schedule for classical Tamil
Conducted number of workshops and training program in library automation.

Prizes :

1. Dr. Rajkumar Sanmana Samithi Gold Medal in Graduate degree, University of Mysore. 1973.
2.IASLIC – Ranganathan medal for the Best Article of the year 1997 for the paper “Informetrics and Subject Indexing Language”.
